The Fengshan Village Rural Revitalization Project is located in Ninghai County, Ningbo City, in the core area of the Jiangsu–Zhejiang–Shanghai region. It is a one-hour drive from Ningbo, a 2.5-hour drive from Hangzhou, and a 3.5-hour drive from Shanghai. The Shanghai–Ningbo Corridor high-speed rail/highway bridge, currently under construction, is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2027. In the future, Shanghai residents traveling to Ninghai will need only 1 hour and 20 minutes by high-speed rail, and the drive will be shortened to 2.5 hours. In the coming years, Ninghai County will be included in the Hangzhou Bay 1.5-hour living circle (Figure 1), making leisure vacations, work, and daily life in Fengshan Village very convenient.

Fengshan Village is located in Huangtan Town, Ninghai County (Figure 2). This small mountain village, at an altitude of 200 meters, is surrounded by mountains and trees，there’s a beautiful natural environment... Fengshan Village is only 6.5 kilometers from the Huangtan town center; a ten-minute drive to the town center，there‘s many commercial, medical, educational, and other public facilities ( Figures 3 and 4).

Fengshan Village consists of two small hamlets, Jiangjia and Tangjia. This village has a history of more than one hundred years. It has beautiful scenery and is surrounded by green bamboo. There is an ancient tree valley in the village, where dozens of ancient trees have in the valley over 500 years. In summer, the ancient tree valley is layered with shade; in winter,when the leaves fall, sunlight spreads across the ground. The scenery differs from season to season and makes people linger... ( Figure 5).

Since the establishment of Ninghai Diecui Rural Tourism Development Co., Ltd. (1) in early 2024, we have worked with the government and villagers to advance Fengshan Village toward rural revitalization... With the support from the Government, a number of rural cultural tourism facilities have been build, including the “Feng Hui Lu Zhuan” walking trail, the Fengwei Restaurant, and high-standard public toilets ( Figure 6).

In 2023, Skeena (Shanghai) Construction Technology Co., Ltd came to Ninghai County for development by government investment promotion. After investigated more than twenty villages, we ultimately selected Fengshan Village in Huangtan Town as the pilot project site. We believe that rural revitalization in Fengshan Village requires not only the village’s landscape to attract tourists, but also improving the village living-standard by constructing high-quality timber houses, attracting top clients from whole the country to come here for leisure vacations, entrepreneurship and work, and residential stays. We believe that “only when people stay in the countryside to work and live，the countryside will truly achieve prosperity and revitalization!” In September 2024, Ninghai Diecui Rural Tourism Development Co., Ltd. submitted a “Fengshan village’s new Planning” design proposal to the the Government. We suggest to demolishing the old houses and building the new houses, make the implementing renovation in phases and sections, the dilapidated mountain village will be gradually transformed into a vibrant village with many new houses, refined culture, and restored popularity.

The project uses unused rural homestead land and adopts modern timber-structure buildings to construct a batch of high-standard, integrated, innovative houses. These new houses will be leased to high-end clients from all over the country for innovative uses such as designer studios, artist entrepreneurship spaces, and leisure vacation residences, providing a work-and-life experience with beautiful scenery and pastoral village living. By the end of 2025, Fengshan Village had completed three modern timber-structure model houses, “Fengshan Qinglu No. 1, 2, and 3” ( Figures 7, 8, and 9).

In the future, Fengshan Village will attract many top clients from the whole country to lease and move in. After clients select lands and building types, development and construction will be carried out in phases. In accordance with the government-approved plan, the village will gradually be built into a model village in the rural revitalization in China.
